I recently traveled to Los Angeles, California to visit the new and improved Disneyland Resort. Disneyland will always feature the classic landmarks such as Mickey's Toontown, Tomorrowland, the Matterhorn and the old-time favorite, Splash Mountain. These classics will always help define the Disneyland experience, but hold on to your seats because classic Disney has gone wild and added Disney's California Adventure Park!
The California Adventure Park will bring out the inner child in all of us. The park is divided into several themed areas, and I decided to start my adventure in the "Golden State" area, which features 8 acres that honour the natural wonders of the California coast. I especially enjoyed "Soarin' over California", an awesome ride providing a virtual bird's eye view of the California coast. I suggest that you request to sit front row center to get the full effect. It is unbelievable!
My next adventure in the California Adventure Park began as I strolled along "Paradise Pier", the home of "California Screamin'". This roller coaster runs one mile long at incredible speeds, and you will experience the exhilaration of traveling from 0 to 55mph in five seconds! The Paradise Pier strip is lined with thrill seeking, heart stopping rides, as well as old fashioned parlour games to keep the not-so adventurous park visitors entertained.
It was with some hesitation that I wandered into "A Bugs Land". However, I had no regrets as "Had to be a Bug" turned out to be the best 3D show I had ever seen until I entered neighbouring theme area called "Hollywood Pictures Backlot". It was there that I enjoyed "Jim Henson's MuppetVision 3D", an incredible, nostalgic trip with these beloved favourites.
California Adventure Park was closing at 8PM, two hours earlier than the remainder of Disneyland Park, so I went to watch the parade, and then wound the evening down with a look at the "Downtown Disney" district. From shopping to dining and coffee houses, you name it - Downtown Disney has it! For those who want a night out, check out the House of Blues, a lively club centrally located in Downtown Disney!
I had a great trip, and with everything this destination has to offer, Disneyland most definitely deserves the title "Happiest Place on Earth".
